Funding a commercial solar project

To fund a commercial solar project you need a site you control, a design envelope or cost, and a clear statement of who is expected to pay. WattFund does not lend and does not guarantee capital.

What people usually mean by funding

They mean the organisation will not, or cannot, pay the whole install from cash, so someone else must put money or hardware in. That someone might be a lender, an equity investor, or a third-party owner of the array.

If the business can pay, the useful work is often costing and delivery, not a raise.

What has to exist first

A controlled roof or field, an honest stage, and either a costing or a plan to get one. Grid and export should be labelled as known or not.

A round-number raise with no quote is a conversation about information, not about capital.

Owner-funded versus external capital

Many commercial roofs are paid for by the occupier. External capital is a different path and needs a commercial model: who owns the array and who takes the power.

Do not open both conversations as if they were the same ticket.

WattFund’s role

Describe the project. WattFund structures the information and connects costing, delivery or capital when that is the next step. Nothing here is a solar fund.
